Thank you early subscribers! As we gear up for the year, the people who sign up early for the coming season are the backbone of our CSA. We use the early flush of money to pay for the cost of seed, compost, labor, land rent, and insurance that we incur before we can start to harvest the spring crops. We also use the number of early subscribers to gauge how much to plant and to make important decisions about land use and what improvements we can afford to spend some money on.
So, a big thank you to those of you who are signing up early! We really appreciate your commitment to our CSA. There is still time to get the discounted rates for payments made by the end of this week. (If you are using the mail, postmark by February 15th.) Scroll down for all the details on making payments.
Another thing we are grateful for? RAIN glorious RAIN. May it continue through the month. (Note that you may find a little more dirt than usual in the harvest this week – we recommend immersing the greens in a large bowl of cold water after cutting. Rinse as many times as needed until dirt is no longer settling out.)
